Olarm UK Ltd, Companies House No. 15792112, registered office at 71–75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom (“Olarm UK”). Olarm UK Ltd provides the Services to customers in both the United Kingdom and the European Union.
When these Terms refer to “Olarm”, “we”, “us”, or “our”, they refer to the relevant entity responsible for providing the Services in your territory, as set out above.
Preliminary — How to Read These Terms
These Terms govern your use of all Olarm Services. Certain clauses are marked with a territory indicator:
- [SA] — applies to customers in South Africa
- [UK] — applies to customers in the United Kingdom
- [EU] — applies to customers habitually resident in the European Union (including Italy)
- [ALL] — applies in all territories
Where a clause is not marked, it applies in all territories. Where local mandatory law grants you rights that exceed those described in these Terms, those statutory rights are not affected or limited by these Terms. Defined terms used in these Terms have the meanings given in Section 1.
1. Definitions
For the purposes of this Cookie Policy, the following terms have the meaning set out below:
Term - Definition
Company / Olarm - Olarm (Pty) Ltd (Reg. 2015/057946/07) (South Africa) and Olarm UK Ltd (CH 15792112) (United Kingdom and European Union), together “Olarm”. When this policy refers to “we”, “us”, or “our”, it refers to the relevant entity, depending on your territory.
You / Your / Customer - The person or entity using the Olarm website or Service(s). In a Direct Subscription, “Customer” and “End User” refer to the same party. In an Indirect Subscription, “Customer” may refer to a Channel Partner as Olarm’s contracting party. “You”, “your”, and “Customer” are used interchangeably throughout this policy.
End User - The person or entity at whose premises an Olarm Device is installed and who uses the Service(s). In a Direct Subscription, the End User is also Olarm’s Customer. In an Indirect Subscription, the End User is the Channel Partner’s customer.
Channel Partner - Any entity that has entered into a Channel Partner Agreement with Olarm to provide, distribute, install, or support the Service(s) to End Users, including Installers, Resellers, Distributors, Armed Response Companies [SA], and Alarm Receiving Centres [UK/EU].
Cookie(s) - Small text files placed on your device when you visit our website, as well as similar technologies including pixel tags, web beacons, local storage, and session storage — collectively referred to as “cookies” in this policy.
Personal Data / Personal Information - Information relating to an identifiable individual, as defined under POPIA (South Africa), UK GDPR (United Kingdom), or EU GDPR (European Union).
Controller / Responsible Party - The entity that determines the purpose and means of processing Personal Data. Olarm (Pty) Ltd is the Responsible Party for South Africa. Olarm UK Ltd is the Controller for UK and EU data subjects.
Consent - A freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous indication of agreement to the processing of your Personal Data, given by a clear affirmative action.
POPIA - Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (South Africa).
PECR - Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (United Kingdom), as amended.
ePrivacy Directive - Directive 2002/58/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, as implemented by each EU Member State.
UK GDPR - UK General Data Protection Regulation, as retained and amended by the Data Protection, Privacy and Electronic Communications (Amendments etc.) (EU Exit) Regulations 2019, and the Data Protection Act 2018.
EU GDPR - Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council (General Data Protection Regulation).
Information Regulator - The South African Information Regulator established under POPIA.
ICO - The Information Commissioner’s Office (United Kingdom).
Service(s) - The Olarm website, Olarm APP, Command Centre, Remote Connect, Signals Proxy, and all Olarm devices including the Olarm MAX, Olarm PRO 4G, Olarm LINK, and Olarm ONE.

3. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies? [ALL]
Cookies are small text files stored on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit our website at https://olarm.com. Similar technologies include:
- Pixel tags / web beacons: Invisible images embedded in web pages or emails that track whether a page or email was viewed
- Local storage: Data stored locally in your browser (similar to cookies but not transmitted with every HTTP request)
- Session storage: Temporary data stored in your browser for the duration of your session only
Collectively, we refer to all of these as “cookies” in this policy.

4.1 South Africa [SA]
In South Africa, the use of cookies is governed by the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA). Olarm uses essential cookies under legitimate interest (no consent required). Non-essential cookies (analytics, preferences, marketing) are used only with your consent, which you provide via our cookie consent banner. You may withdraw consent at any time.
4.2 United Kingdom [UK]
In the United Kingdom, the use of cookies is governed by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended, read together with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Under PECR:
- Essential cookies (strictly necessary for the website to function) may be used without consent
- All other cookies (including analytics, preferences, and marketing) require your prior, informed, and freely given consent via the Olarm cookie consent tool
You have the right to withdraw consent at any time, and the withdrawal of consent must be as easy as giving it.
4.3 European Union (including Italy) [EU]
In the European Union, the use of cookies is governed by Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC) as implemented by each EU Member State, read together with EU GDPR (Regulation 2016/679).

- All other cookies require your explicit, prior, opt-in consent via the Olarm cookie consent tool
[IT] Italian data subjects: in Italy, the ePrivacy Directive is implemented by Legislative Decree 196/2003 (Codice in materia di protezione dei dati personali) as amended by Legislative Decree 101/2018. The Garante per la protezione dei dati personali has issued specific guidelines on cookie and tracking tools (Provvedimento dell’8 gennaio 2022). Olarm complies with these guidelines when processing personal data of Italian users. Consent is required for all non-essential tracking activities.
Consent, where given, may be withdrawn at any time using the Olarm cookie management tool accessible via the “Cookie Settings” link in the footer of our website.

5.1 Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential for the website to function — for example, maintaining your login session and recording your consent preferences. They cannot be switched off in our systems.

Some cookies on our website are set by third-party services. These third parties may collect information about your browsing behaviour across different websites. 7.1 Olarm Cookie Consent Tool
When you first visit https://olarm.com, a cookie consent banner will be displayed. You can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies, or manage your preferences by category. You can change your preferences at any time by clicking “Cookie Settings” in the footer of our website. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
7.2 Browser Controls [ALL]
You can also control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling cookies may affect certain features of our website.
7.3 Opt-Out Tools [ALL]

8. Cookies and the Olarm APP [ALL]
The Olarm APP does not use browser cookies. The Olarm APP uses the following local storage and tracking technologies for operational purposes:
- Device tokens: Used for push notification delivery; linked to your device and account. Stored securely on our servers for the duration of your subscription.
- Session tokens: Used to authenticate your App session. Expire after 30 days of inactivity.
- Crash analytics: Where you have opted in, anonymised crash and performance data is transmitted to Olarm’s development team to improve App stability. No personal identifiers are included in crash reports.
9. Your Rights in Relation to Cookies [ALL]
In accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable Data Protection Laws, you have the right to:
- Be informed about how cookies are used (this policy)
- Access your Personal Data processed via cookies
- Withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time
- Request deletion of Personal Data collected via cookies (subject to applicable law and retention requirements)
- Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority:
10. Retention of Cookie Data [ALL]
Cookie data is retained in accordance with the durations set out in Section 5 and our Privacy Policy. Personal Data collected through cookies is retained only for as long as necessary and is deleted or anonymised when no longer required.
11. Updates to This Cookie Policy [ALL]
11.1 We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our cookie practices, the Services, or applicable law.
11.2 Updates will be published on this page with a revised “Last revised” date. Where changes are material, we will notify you by email to your registered address.
